| H.E. Mr. Korn Chatikavanij has been serving as the Finance Minister since December 2008 and is currently the Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party Thailand. He won his first seat in the General Elections in February 2005.
Prior to entering politics H.E. Mr. Korn Chatikavanij was the president of JP Morgan Securities (Thailand) until October 2004, having sold to JP MorganChase in 1999 his shares in JF Thanakom Securities, the company he co-founded with Finance One, a local finance company, and Jardine Fleming. At his early age, he had also worked at SG Warburg, London.
His former positions include the Deputy Chairperson of the House Finance and Banking Committee and the Board Member of Jardine Flemming International Holding Limited, Ayudhya Jardine CMG Life Assurance, Thai Gypsum Products and Special Olympics Organising Committee, Thailand.
H.E. Mr. Korn Chatikavanij graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from Oxford University (St. John’s College), the United Kingdom. Prior to that, he attended Winchester College in the United Kingdom.
H.E. Mr. Korn Chatikavanij is married to Mrs. Vorakorn Chatikavanij, with three sons and one daughter.
