Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib was appointed as Malaysia’s 6th Prime Minister on April 2009. He is also the Minister of Finance. Before entering politics in 1976, Dato' Sri Najib spent his early professional career at Malaysia's national oil company, Petronas, for two years.
Other positions that Dato’ Sri Najib held prior to becoming the Prime Minister include Deputy Minister of Energy, Telecommunications and Posts; Deputy Minister of Education; Deputy Minister of Finance; Menteri Besar of Pahang; Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; Minister of Education and Minister of Defence.
Upon his appointment in 2004 as the Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Najib remained as Defence Minister until September 2008 when he took over as Finance Minister in 2008. Subsequently, in April, Dato’ Sri Najib was sworn in as the Prime Minister.
Dato’ Sri Najib, the eldest son of Malaysia’s second Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, received his primary and secondary education at one of the country’s leading schools in the country, St John’s Institution. He then continued his secondary education at the Malvern Boy’s College, Worcestershire, England. Upon completion of his secondary education, Dato’ Najib enrolled at the University of Nottingham and graduated in industrial economics.
